Email Migration Steps
In order to make the migration seamless, we will setup access to your accounts on both mail servers. Once the service is migrated, you need to delete the old settings. This will provided for the most seamless upgrade resulting in no email loss.
These are the steps you will need to take:
1. First make sure that your current service is using "mail.your-domain.com" as the mail server. If you have contacted you with alternate settings, please use those, instead of the ones listed on this page. The General set up will be the same, only the mail server names may be different.
First click Tools, then Accounts.

Then select the account and click properties. On the "Servers" tab, make sure you have the current mail settings of "mail.your-domain.com". Click OK to close the dialog box.

2. We will contact with the new mail server settings. These setting need to be added to your existing email software. This will allow you access both mailboxes during the migration period.
Leave the current settings in place. Don't remove them. Click Add > Mail to add another mail account.

Follow the dialog boxes filing in the information you where provided to the email migration. Make sure to use the new account settings. The Account name/username in the new service will have the format user@your-domain.com. Make sure to use the full email address as the username.

Use the new mail servers. The will usually be pop.your-domain.com or smtp.your-domain.com, unless alternate servers have been provided for your domain.

3. Once you have the additional email setup added, contact support@digitalcanvas.com, and we will switch the MX record (a technical name for where the mail is sent). This will direct all the email to the new server.During this time you will leave both mail servers in your email software.

4. Once you have email accessed from the new server, wait a few days, then delete the old settings. We will send you and email to delete the old settings.
