Email Service Migration
(2/19/2006, subject to change)
In order to better serve our clients’ needs we are upgrading our email services. This upgrade will provide the following benefits:
- Increased email server stability.
- Friendly User Control Panel.
- Improved and faster webmail.
- Feature rich webmail including rich-text and spell checker
- Spam software controls including allow/block list built into webmail
- Unified webmail login at http://webmail.your-domain.com.
- Email forwarding/auto-responders/vacation message setup built into webmail
This email migration will take place over the next couple of weeks. Domains will be migrated to the new servers in phases. You will be notified of the migration date of your domain prior to the change, allowing you to make any changes.
Follow these Migration Steps
The following changes will take place:
- Username change. All usernames will now require both a username and domain to login to email. For example, if you use to login as “username” in your email software, like outlook, you will now be required to use “username@your-domain.com”.
- Password change. Some users will require a password change. If a password change is required, a temporary password will be assigned. If you are unable to login with your regular settings on the change date, please use the temporary password.
- Mail Server Change. The new mail servers setting in your mail software will be:
POP3 (incoming mail): pop.your-domain.com
SMTP (outgoing mail): smtp.your-domain.net
IMAP (imap mail): imap.your-domain.net
- Mail Content. We will make every attempt to migrate the existing mail content over to the new server, but in some cases this may not be possible. Please download all mail from the mail server prior to the change date to avoid data loss of existing email. This can be done by checking your email account, with “leave mail on server” turned off. If you have a large mail folder (over 25 MB) or need mail migration assistance, please contact us for a quote.
- DNS change. If your Zone file is not hosted by Digital Canvas, then you will need to make some Zone file changes. In this rare case, please contact us for zone file changes at support@digitalcanvs.com or call 925-706-1700.
If you have any questions about your account upgrade please contact us at support@digitalcanvas.com or call 925-706-1700 M – F from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
